Tana Montana

Tana Montana

🎶You get the best of both worlds! Chill it out, take it slow, Then you rock out the show🎶. Just kidding! Nobody reads my blog, Bet you weren’t expecting TWO Hannah Montana references in ONE urbex post! Anyways today’s star of the show is the Tana Corporation. Founded in 1961 and closing sometime around 2007 the Tana Corporation had a pretty decent run all things considered. Like every vacant building in the rust belt, Tana had heavy ties with the automotive industry, Mainly parts relating to fuel systems, frames, and other various items.

The Tana Corporation in 2007, shortly before closure.

Unfortunately because Tana closed before mainstream social media took off there isn’t really any photos of it in operation besides a single satellite photo, However I was able to find two snapshots of their website from 2001 and 2007.
The Internet archive managed to not save any photos besides an ad.

Their 2001 website has a nice early 2000s charm to it, however their later website shows that they enjoy CSS as much as they do properly paying retirement.

🔥🔥 Horse shit website 🔥🔥

It appears that even after closure the property was kept by the original owner until it was forfeited in 2017, and then again in 2020, the property seemed to remain ownerless until 2021where some idiot paid $83,600 for the property, Since then the property has remained abandoned however it appears someone at some point attempted to salvage/start demolition, as there are tracks from heavy equipment inside.

The building looks strangely fancy for a factory.

Boring history aside onto my boring exploration, The building is wedged awkwardly inside a mix of residential and commercial properties which made parking and getting inside a bit difficult. I awkwardly parked my car in front of what used to be the front gate to the building, and prayed that nobody would get suspicious.

google maps gameplay.

After walking around the building looking for a way in (and getting the side eye from every worker in the area) entrance related things were not looking great, every door we tried was locked. Starting to feel a bit antsy that the workers in the nearby machine shop would figure out what we were up too, we decided to venture into some thick brush at the rear of the building. Two more locked doors later we finally found a window that would open and we promptly slid inside.

Stepping into the main machining area we were greeted by a massive garage door. It appeared that all heavy equipment had been removed upon closure or had been salvaged later on as nothing of value in the main area was left behind.

I was surprised at the lack of vandalism considering the place had been vacant for roughly 16 years. A homeless person’s belongings lay in the corner of the room seemingly untouched for years.

As we ventured deeper we disturbed a flock of birds resting in a room and they began chirping and fluttering around inside, creating an almost surreal scene. (Unfortunately the birds didn’t really show up in the photos)

Birds! Birds! Everywhere!

Some sort of workshop.

Love these old freight elevators.

Heading to the administrative side we spent roughly 15 mins looking at all the paperwork in this office.

Look their floor plans! haha get it cuz floor? Get it?

I would really like to meet the person that ate 3 Chiquita bananas while exploring this place.

The administrative side of the building was constructed from wood, a strange and stark contrast to the concrete and steel machine hall. Unfortunately as time went on this part of the building has reached an advanced state of decay.

Gaming pc $1299 Just needs a bit of TLC NO LOWBALLS!

At this point I was just having a good time exploring and forgot to continue taking pictures, However I was recording with my GoPro the entire time so we still have that I guess…

Despite years of decay items still remain in their drawers

World’s largest cigarette!!

We attempted to head upstairs to the second floor however upon stepping onto the second floor the floor began to buckle and sink, as we were not in the mood to explore the emergency room we decided to turn back instead.

The carpet here was loose and kept tripping us up.

Layout of the second floor.

Anyways that’s it for now I will update if anything interesting happens at the site.

Mutagen Out!
